A Sweet Detour Along Historic Route 66
We came to the St. Robert area to visit several Route 66 landmarks, including the historic Hooker Cut.
Along the way, we made time for a stop at Uranus, and it proved to be a perfect addition to the day's itinerary.
Before we ever stepped inside, we realized Uranus wasn't going to be a typical roadside stop. The parking lot itself felt like part of the attraction. Between oversized displays, quirky signs, and roadside oddities, there were already plenty of reasons to pull out the camera.
Before we even made it through the parking lot, Cheryl and I were calling each other over to read signs and take photos. Just when one of us thought we'd found the funniest display on the property, another one appeared a few steps away.
From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that Uranus doesn't take itself too seriously. Every few steps seemed to reveal another joke or pun that was somehow even more ridiculous than the last. The humor is delightfully juvenile, but that's exactly the point. Rather than trying to be sophisticated, Uranus embraces its role as a classic roadside attraction where visitors are encouraged to smile, laugh, and leave their seriousness at the door.
